I am using a Mac and while working in the terminal, I suddenly started getting a series of > symbols instead of the normal terminal prompt. I am not sure what caused this, and I cannot seem to return to the regular command prompt. I tried typing commands like quit, clear, and pressing Command + D, but nothing seems to work. I suspect I might have accidentally entered an interactive mode or command that I am not aware of.

I have tried the following:

Typing quit, exit, clear, but the > symbol keeps appearing.
Pressing Command + D to exit, but nothing happens.
Looking for a way to return to the normal terminal prompt where I can run git commands.
