I’m currently using a Google Cloud free trial account with an initial credit of IDR 4,000,000. I’m trying to use the Google Maps Directions API for my application, which involves calculating distances and displaying polylines on a map. Despite having sufficient credits, the API calls are not consuming any of the provided credits, and as a result, the expected functionality (distance calculations and polylines display) is not working.
What did you try?
Here are the steps I’ve taken so far:
Enabled the Directions API in the Google Cloud Console.
Configured the API key correctly in my application.
Checked my Google Cloud billing account, which shows that I still have credits available.
Despite these steps, the API requests are not being processed, and I’m not seeing any charges against my credits.
What were you expecting?
I was expecting the Directions API to process the requests, calculate distances, and display polylines on the map in my application. Additionally, I expected these API calls to consume some of the provided credits from my free trial account.
What happened instead?
The API requests are not being processed at all. There are no distance calculations or polyline displays occurring in the application, and there is no consumption of the credits available in my account.
Could someone please confirm if the Directions API is fully functional for free trial accounts? If it should work, what additional steps should I take to troubleshoot this issue? Are there specific limitations or configurations required to enable this service during the free trial period?
Thank you for your assistance!
