Can I install and use meshlab in a remote server ? So that I can log into the remote server in command line and run a matlab script which make use of the meshlab?

Is there a way to develop a plugin for my specific purpose in MeshLab? Let’s suppose I have a truck loaded with the sand in its back represented by 3D model in PLY format. I would like to measure the volume of the sand in cubic meters. I open 3D model in MeshLab where I would like to see some specific tool bar that provide some specific tools and calculation logic for the measurement. If there is a pocibility can you share links with the specs for meshlab plugin development? I am a software developer and I would like to implement it myself. Thank you.
