I took my laptop (LG A410 – I know it’s old, hehe) to be cleaned and upgraded. When I went to pick up the equipment, the technician decided to perform the procedure to add an HDD (it already had an SSD) when he gave it to me, because he said he slept in the afternoon. During the procedure, when I tried to enter the password to access the laptop, the keyboard had a problem, certain keys were not working. The technician removed the keyboard, started hitting it, “unbending”/twisting the keyboard, blowing on it, etc. He said he was checking to see if there were any keys with bad contact or something in the contacts… in addition, to connect the flat to the laptop he used the blade of a utility knife and all of this on top of a kitchen table. After these actions, the keyboard apparently started working again (this was 07/16/2024). But now (as of 07/20/2024), when I press “;” or “:” on the screen, where the text is being entered, several “;”s automatically appear. It seems that there is a short circuit, I don’t know, that triggers the activation of this key. I know that everything can stop working or have problems suddenly, including keyboards. My question is whether the technician had any influence on this, because to me he didn’t seem to perform the procedure in a technical and correct manner. I don’t want to blame anyone, I want to have a basis and parameters to understand what happened. I know that when I left the notebook with the technician the keyboard was working, I also know that this doesn’t mean much, but I want to understand if the technician could have had any influence on this. If someone who understands maintenance, good practices in this area, hardware, etc. could clarify and clear my mind, I would be very grateful. I want to understand if the procedure is normal, if it could or could not have been the technician, in short, I just want to understand.

Note: The HD that was being inserted in place of the Optical Drive was an HD that was not formatted and had an operating system installed (Windows). The SSD also had Windows. I mentioned this to the technician, I thought he would connect the HD and format it on another machine, but he was in a hurry. So he simply inserted the HD into the notebook to format it, it seems to have presented some conflicts, until at some point he managed to do it. Just an observation, I don’t know if it is relevant.
