I am a developer with experience in various types of development, it can be because side project but now I currently working with C++ and Java for 2 years. My goal (and it was also something have also want to reach) are to become a kernel developer. To achieve this, I’ve follow up tutorials, reading articles, and doing exercises and also do a certification by linuxfoundation (one was free so I do this one) but I would like to practice on something other than my PC and VirtualBox, as I’ve encountered everytime few complications with them and my laptop is not the best sadly for me.
I’ve been thinking about buying a single-board computer for this purpose. There are many choices out there, and I’ve mainly seen the popular Raspberry Pi and the BeagleBone Black.
Do you have any opinions about this two board for kernel dev ? (long time ago, I did use RP for fun but its was really long time ago) or maybe advice on which board would be ideal for working on kernel development ? I’m looking for a board that will allow me to thoroughly understand and practice kernel development in the best practical environment. I see good point for example for RP and BB but I little lost.
Thanks in advance for your help!
