I’m experiencing a perplexing issue with my Samsung Galaxy A53 5G Enterprise Edition and need some advice. Here’s a detailed rundown of what happened:
WhatsApp Backup Issue:
- My last successful WhatsApp backup to Google Drive was on April 26th. I realized backups hadn’t been updating because my phone was in energy-saving mode.
- When I tried to manually backup WhatsApp to Google Drive, it failed twice showing an error after the backup process appeared to be complete (percentage bar reached 100%). This has apparently corrupted the existing backup because Google Drive now shows no backups available.
Phone Lock Issue:
- Shortly after these backup attempts, I locked my phone. When I tried to unlock it a few seconds later, it wouldn’t recognize my 6-digit PIN—which I’m 100% certain is correct. A family member of mine has the same pin. I don’t use a pattern or something else to unlock my phone, just the pin.
- I don’t use fingerprint or face unlock, and Google’s ‘Find My Device’ service couldn’t connect to the phone. I don’t use the find my device service from Samsung and do not have a Samsung account, as i really dislike Samsung apps and prefer the ones from Google. Thus, Samsung Remote Unlock is impossible to perform. Yes I know I’m strange for using a Samsung phone when I dislike their apps, but in general I really like their hardware for the price. Besides that, they were one of the few companies that still offered an external sd card slot in combination with other things I wanted in my phone.
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
- Attempted clearing the cache and repairing apps via recovery mode—no success.
- Tried rebooting and turning it off via recovery mode and also with only using volume down and power button.Wi-Fi, mobile data, and Bluetooth were active (however can’t change anything as quick menu access is locked through pin), but it couldn’t push notifications through apps (tired via the ebanking app).
- Removed the SIM card (which has no PIN) and I now try to drain the battery with the flashlight turned on.
- Furhter I try to perform a deep reset (is it called like this?) – where you push the volume up or volume down button and the power button as long as possible and still keep pressing them, even when you entered recovery mode, as it then puts the phone into a bootloop and then forces a restart. This method was recommended me by a friend.
Service Center Visit:
- The Samsung service center advised a hard reset, but I declined as I want to preserve my data. I know it’s partly my fault as I got lazy with my backups but I want to keep my data. Especially my Whatsapp Chats and my photos. At Samsung they told me that they cannot access my phone, even if I know my pin due to their privacy guidelines.
Questions:
Is there a way to unlock the phone via PC since I know my PIN?
Any tips on salvaging WhatsApp chats? I’m still logged into WhatsApp Web.
Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
