I don’t exactly what went wrong. I turned on the USB Debugging, and installed Dr. Fone from my windows app. The phone was showing signs of death since 2 days but I was too stupid to get it. I had not backed up all my data, since my SD card wasn’t emptied yet. 26GB of file still left in the Card.
Anyway, now this phone, for some reason went into a bootloop, showed ‘Android’ logo, a very large, filling one, on my display, and since then the phone doesn’t turn on. It either goes to Fastboot or Recovery Mode where it has only 3 options: Reboot, Wipe Data, Connect to MI Assitance.
Now, Reboot doesn’t work. Wipe Data is out of question. And MI Assistance software is in Chinese with no language settings. So, working on that is a lot riskier.
What are my chances of being able to turn this device for at least a few hours, so as to copy the data on its folders to my SD card, and let it be handled by the Ewaste managers afterwards? Even if there are false hopes, give me. I know how important backups are. For some reason my GDrive wasn’t taking the backups, and Photos seemed to never work as well. And SD card was too slow to connect to the PC. See how screwed up I am!?
Model: Redmi 5 4+64GB. Android 8. Can Xiaomi team help? If yes, how to approach them? I live in India. I don’t really know right know whether I left USB Debugging on or Bootloader to be Unlocked! I enabled on of them.
Visited the service centre. Turns out they pay little attention to a user’s personal data, and are adamant to change the motherboard. They try to milk the cow even if she is sick.
Visited 2 renowned repair centres. One tried, failed and referred me to the other. Couldn’t meet him.
I was expecting the device to turn for at least 2 hours in normal mode, with all the data intact. I wanted to backup everything up and get rid of the 6yo device for good. I am too broke to afford a flagship.
