Has anyone purchased the new Microsoft Surface Pro 11th edition with the Snapdragon X Plus processor? This one we just got came pre-installed with Windows 11, 24H2. There are issues with this edition on some software we are trying to install.
I want to revert back to Win 11 23H2, however, this new device will not boot from any Flash Drive to re-install Windows on the 23H2. I’ve worked with several Surface Pro devices in the past, and doing the (Volume down (-) while pressing the power button) doesn’t work. It tries to access the flash drive, but then stops and boots into windows. I’ve even tried to go into the Settings/Recovery and Advanced boot, where I tell it to boot from a USB Drive, but it does the same thing. The UEFI boot works fine, and it has the default settings to tell it to use USB Storage. And I’ve tried both the USB-C side of the USB Device, as well as a USB-C to USB-A dongle, and trying it that way. Once the Surface boots, I can access the USB drive just fine through Windows.
The USB Drives are good, because I can take it and do the same thing on another Surface Pro 9) and it boots fine into the USB Device. And these Windows Builds on the flash drive were built using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. I even went back and re-built it using a fresh build from Microsoft.
I don’t know if there is something related to the new processor or something security related, that makes it not run on Windows 11 23H2? Anyway, just wondering if anyone might have some insight into why it won’t boot from any of these flash drives, or come across this issue.
Thanks in advance!
