I am trying to get an image of a chess board and using opencv detect which piece is in which square when looking from above.

I really don´t know how to approach the shape comparation because I do know how for example a pawn looks but I want the programm to compare exactly the piece and tell me it is a pawn

I saw another post with matching technique but the link was down so I do not know how to proceed
