I am not a programmer, I can do basic scripting but this is very far from my skillset.
I am setting up an HTPC settop box for a relative that has no internet at their home, no networking either. Getting internet is not feasible. They are downsizing their DVDs, so I ripped them for them as well.
I have it set up, KODI running on top of Mint with the XFCE DE.
I would like a script that runs on start up (Preferably with a verbose setting and before the DE starts) that scans all USB drives for a specific folder, and copies all contents to a specific folder on the internal drive, prompts the user to remove the drive upon completion and reboots the machine. If the machine boots without a USB drive attached, it starts the DE and Kodi instead.
The user is a woman in 70s with zero computer skills and I want to make it as simple to understand as possible.
I have tried to do this myself, even trying to use a similar script from Retropie for my own needs and it didn’t work.
