We have several websites running on aws, and recently a new invoice item has been added, namely Public IPv4 Addresses with a charge of $0.005 / hour.
We perfectly understand that public IPv4 addresses are a scarce resource and we are absolutely ready to get rid of those that we don’t need.
But, we cannot find a way on how to do that. There is nothing like that in the aws Console.
We opened a case with aws Billing Support, and over a period of 2 months (!) they gave all kinds of surprising recommendations, of which none actually worked, or where the console even didn’t allow us to do what they suggested.
At the end, they gave up and closed the support case with the final suggestion to terminate the instance as this would release all attached resources.
Well, we found this rather shocking as this is more or less a technical suicide.
So, my question is: Has anyone found a solution on how to get rid of no longer needed public IPv4 addresses and have the invoices reduced again?
