I want to create a database to make it easier to track student progress. I want to upload a roster, click a student’s name, and see the subject areas: Math, Grammar, Social Skills. Under each subject area, I would like to see a list of skills that I can click on or drag & drop into different categories based on mastered or developing and into each grading area. Ideally, I would be able to print out or copy & paste each student’s progress into another document. If the standards are clicked on, I need a way to sort them and want them to disappear from the original list. I see this is where drag & drop has an advantage. Either way, I need to be able to reset the standards at the end of each school year.
I don’t know if a database is the best way to do this. I’m not a programmer, and my abilities are minimal, but I don’t mind being patient and learning what I need to in order to make this happen. It can be a script, database, webapp, or whatever, and I have no problem learning whatever language necessary. If anyone knows of anything that already exists to do this (free), a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
I’m using a MacBook Pro, if it makes any difference.
I don’t know where to start trying. I’m overwhelmed with possibilities.
