This issue was grabbing my attention many years ago but I was never bothered to ask…

I am using gParted for ages but I do not understand why it is not using the full potential of the disk and by default start the first sector starts from 2048.

Obviously I’m not asking to save some bytes here I’m just curious why is that so I can learn from it.
