We have set up Google Tag Manager server-side in parallel operation for the past two weeks.
This means that currently, we still have the direct path from the client to the Google server, as well as the new path from the client to our tagging server and then to the Google server.
The live (tagging) and preview servers (in the form of Docker containers) are not hosted in the Google Cloud but on our own servers, with a load balancer in front of them.
When I compare the data from the two GA4 properties, I notice the strange phenomenon that the new server-side GA4 property shows more users but fewer page views.
So far, I haven’t been able to identify any errors in the setup or configuration. I’ve also reviewed the requests in the Developer Console, as well as debugging in the preview server container.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue and knows what might be causing this?
We tried to view the access lofs of our servers but with no success. Nothing special was logged.
