I am working on automatic disease detection from chest CT images. I have been in correspondance with a hospital from where they are providing me with chest CT slices all in jpg format. I’m afraid converting to jpg format might result in spatial information loss, if it were up to me I would have converted dicom to nifti
Now, I have converted the 3D volumes from jpg to nifti using the nibabel library in python, in hope that 3D volume of medical images will provide better representation of the data. Is my assumption true? Will converting jpg image slices to 3D nifti volume benefit anything?
