On my server OS AlmaLinux v8.7 STANDARD with cPanel V 108.0.15 – I have an issue with the space shown with my email accounts. From the cPanel front end it shows an mail account i.e. [email protected] – with a size of 2.87 GB (Snapshot_2024-08-04-2) but when I check the same using the WHM terminal, the email account size is 4.1G – /home/foldername/mail/domain.ke/info/??(Snapshot_2024-08-04-3)
When i check further using the terminal, I find there is a folder called STORAGE which accounts for 4.1GB (Snapshot_2024-08-04-1). From another server with OS CloudLinux v8.9 STANDARD cPanel Version 120, this folder does not exist. When I delete the /STORAGE folder (after taking a backup), the mails disappear even after restoration.
The /STORAGE folder in all accounts, accounts for more than 70% of the host space. The solution required is how to delete this folder without affecting the email account/s. Error displayed
I delete the folder ie /STORAGE from both the file manager which unfortunately was detrimental – the emails in the account were deleted. Even after the folder restoration from the backup, all the emails were not restored in the test account – error: No messages found in this mailbox.
