Please be gentle – I am very new to this and will probably use the wrong terminology, but here goes…
Each week (at work), I have to log in to the web-based external patient management software that we use in our healthcare clinic, and manually navigate to the reports area to download (one by one) the same few reports each week. The start/end dates I enter each week on the report parameters are pretty much the only thing I change.
I then export each of these reports from the software as a csv, which then feed into a series of PowerQuery reports I’ve got set up to work the data.
Is there anyway for me to automate the process of accessing the software and downloading the reports? Ideally I’d like to be able to run something outside of the software that logs me in, chooses the right reports, sets the parameters and then exports them in one go.
What steps do I need to take, what software/languages etc do I need to use, and what are my options? I have contacted the software owners and have an API, but I’m so confused about what the next steps are.
I don’t have any colleagues on hand to help so I’m trying to figure this out myself.
Finally, can anyone recommend any good places online where I can learn stuff like this?
I have tried a lot of Googling, but I don’t know what questions to ask to get the right answers…
