We recently got a request for AIX version upgrade from 5.3 to 6.1, We have MQ 5.3 running on this system.

Would this upgrade affect the running MQ?

IBM Docs suggests below system requirements for MQ 5.3 base version,

Operating Systems
AIX V5.3
AIX V5.2 (32 bit and 64 bit kernel)
AIX V5.1 with PTFs: U476879, U477366, U477367 and U477368
AIX V4.3.3 with relevant Year 2000 fixes
