I can’t create a flickering placeholder for the calculator’s display screen

I tried using a standard placeholder for the display. But it doesn’t flicker even after a used a simple animation that affects the opacity. Here’s a link to the project => https://paulemmanuel8888.github.io/calculator/ I’ll greatly appreciate any advise or possible improvements.
