I’m new to power BI. Until now, I have worked douring my Udemy course, with the attached data ressources from the course. But now I’m thinking, how I will come to a good datamodell, when I have to connect to a ERP System that work with SQL Server lets say. If I connect to the Database, what will await me? Until now I have get Tables and Columns wiht intuitiv speaking names provided from Teacher. How is this in a ERP System when you take a connection to the SQL Server for modelling the data in Power BI to get business questions answered by Power BI?

I tried to find with google a Dataset from a ERP System, to get a try, but unfortunately couldn’t find a Database to a ERP System, with Data in (Contoso, Northwind as I understand are also teaching Datasets, with well namend Columns and tables) . My fear is that, I will get a connection to a ERP System and then, all the tables and collums have cryptice names (Table: $1#34X = Customer) … to avoid, that users of the ERP System can analyse there Business by them self. Maybe I’m wrong. I hope I was clear in my thoughts. ,
Do any one have done such a approach and can share his learnings.
Or do any one have a hint where I should focus next to come further.
