I basically want to set something up for 1 image only (a logo), which a number of people will add to their website (but I will host it), and be able to record the full page URL of the website that has used the logo. I remember this is something cPanel on LAMP servers back in the day could do – I caught someone on MySpace using one of my graphics as their wallpaper!
I figured one of the big hosts would have this capability – I have already set up a cloud storage bucket in Google Cloud, added logs and uploaded a test image, but the logs don’t seem to be naming the particular pages I have embedded the test image on.
Ultimately I want some automation that pushes these pages to a Google Sheet (or similar). I need to capture domain at a minimum, but full page URL would be awesome too, and frequency/views a bonus.
Any help/ thoughts on best way to proceed would be greatly appreciated! I am not wed to Google Cloud if it can be done better in Azure or AWS or something like that.
The only other option is giving people a ‘snippet’ that includes some JS but if they can’t be stuffed embedding the scripts and just use the image instead I won’t know what page it ends up on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if I am barking up the wrong tree with what I’ve done so far 🙂
Cheers guys!
